Rug Guide

  • Measure before you start

Before you start looking at rugs you need to measure the dimensions of your room to work out the approximate space you have for a rug and any constraints you have (door openings, etc).

  • Bigger is usually better

A small rug can make a room look small and its elements disconnected. When in doubt, go for a bigger size to help tie everything together.

  • The 18-Inch rule

Most interior designers will tell you to leave around 18 inches (45 cm) of bare floor around a rug to get the right proportions. However, for small spaces you can tweak this.

  • Don’t be afraid to experiment

You’re allowed to bend the rules a bit when choosing a rug – they’re only guidelines after all.

Rug Care

  • Please vacuum your newly fitted rug frequently, some initial fibre loss or ‘shedding’ is normal but will not affect the appearance or performance, and soon stops with frequent vacuuming. It is very important to use the perfect attachment type for your vacuum that will be gentle for your rug. Kindly seek advice to your vacuum company guidance since every vacuum brands might have different type of attachment.

  • Clean spills and Blot stains right way. To clean, use a mild soap mixed with water and brush gently with soft brush like a toothbrush on the area that needs to be cleaned. Ensure all cleaning products are removed and rug is dry.

  • Avoid direct sunlight and continuous exposure to sunlight.

  • Expect shedding to occur within the first 3 to 6 months, it will diminish over time. If there are fibre loss or shedding, snip them with scissors.

  • Professional cleaning is recommended for stain removal or periodic cleaning care.

  • Never fold the rug. Store your rug by rolling its front side out and wrap in a cloth for protection.
